Re-create a memory of a special moment or subject with a commissioned painting or drawing.

Using a collaborative approach with each client, Julia’s painting and drawing commissions accurately portray a subject matter in a way that a photograph cannot. Every portrait, pet portrait, still-life, waterscape, or landscape she creates showcases her passion for art and extraordinary talent.

Guidelines for Painting or Drawing Commissions

General Information

Specific times during the year are busier than others for commissions. To avoid disappointment, start the process as early as possible.

Oil or acrylic portraits are on canvas or cradled panel – please specify which you would prefer at time of order. Paintings do not require framing or glass.

Pencil and coloured pencil portraits are on quality, heavyweight, acid-free paper or cradled panel. For best preservation, portraits on paper should be framed and under glass (not included).

Reference Photos

If local to the Winnipeg and southern and central Manitoba area, Julia can travel and take the photographs herself and make on-the-spot notes and sketches if necessary. Travel to other locations is optional.

Although painting from a live sitting is ideal, it’s sometimes impractical in this busy world. When reference photos are used instead, provide several, high-quality, high-resolution photographs of the subject matter.

Please note the desired look that you are after in your commission. Julia is also able to make suitable suggestions. One to two rough sketches will be provided for your approval before the commission painting or drawing process begins.

Shipping Costs

Shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer. Quotes will be provided using Canada Post and/or other mailing courier services. Free, local pick-up is also available.

Full payment, plus shipping costs, is required before the portrait is mailed.

Transit time may vary, especially during the holidays. In general, shipping takes 1-4 weeks. If interested, faster shipment options are available. Any customs fees incurred are the responsibility of the customer.
